I did a speed awareness course in April this year for doing 35 in a 30 limit. I have been advised that I am going to be prosecuted again for doing 47 in a for limit. What is the likely outcome?

Nick - Your Question:
Was caught doing 43 in a 30, excessive I know, was late for an appointment. Regardless, first ever fine in 11 years of driving, yet won’t allow me to do course as the cut off is 42. Camera was last calibrated in February, can I argue this?

Our Response:
It's difficult to argue this without expert knowledge - we advise contacting a legal professional if you want to do this. Even if the camera hadn't been calibrated effectively, the speed is so much in excess of the limit that you might not be successful in appealing it anyway.

Timbo - Your Question:
I paid a fixed penalty over the phone & sent my driving licence in well within time allowed. Now they have sent me back my licence & repaid the fixed penalty claiming I did not pay on time & they intended to summons me. They refused to confirm to me in writing that I was in time but instead sent me a letter saying it had to to to court. I emailed a request for information & stated I had the recordings of my conversation & got a very rapid reply asking me if I was able to send my licence & payment again. I repeated my request & asked for them to send me a confirmation that I had paid the fixed penalty in plenty of time & the paperwork issued by the was incorrect. What should I do?If they have to reissue the notice I believe they will be out of time?

Our Response:
You should be able to get a log of your phone calls, which should prove the date you made the payment. If it goes to court, this should be sufficient evidence.

Dewy - Your Question:
Can I do a National motorway awareness course if I have already done a speed awareness course in the last 3 years

Our Response:
Were you caught speeding? If so, then the only course that will apply is the speed awareness course (which as you rightly point out, won't be offered if you've already done one in the past three years).

Twinkle - Your Question:
After reading through these pages I can see that if you recieve a speeding notice after 14 days you can ask for it to be withdrawn?I was stopped by police for speeding on 31/10/2016. I recieved a single justice procedure notice on 22/04/2017 (6 months after the offence)I sent back within the 21 days pleading guilty. I had an £800 fine and 6 points, I am having to pay the fine in instalmentsIs there anything I can do now as it was 6 months after the offence that I got the notice? Or is it too late because I pleaded guilty?

Our Response:
No, SJPN is usually sent if an initial communication has been ignored. It's likely you will incur further costs etc if you take it back to court.
