Visual & Lighting Modifications on Your Car
Most visual and lighting modifications will not necessarily make the driving experience any easier, but they do have certain benefits. When you buy a car, it is unlikely that you will come across the "perfect" one. For many people, the car that they eventually settle on is a compromise that they intend to alter so that it better fits their needs or desires. Alternatively, you might want to have visual modifications so that your car stands out from the rest. Either way, if you are looking to make visual or lighting modifications to your car (or other motor vehicle), there are certain considerations that you need to take into account before you add these parts.
Visual ModificationsVisual modifications can range from simply painting and replacing the in-car carpet to the more complicated job of having new wheels fitted to your car. Strictly speaking, any modification that makes your car look better or suit your tastes more comes under this category.
Wheel ModificationsA new set of wheels is often a popular choice, especially the lightweight varieties. This can lead to a big improvement in car performance, as well as being more aesthetically pleasing.
Window ModificationsHaving tinted windows put in are another popular modification, as they can keep some of the glare from the sun out. This can be done relatively cheaply. Another option is to have windows fitted with one-way glass, so that you can see outside, but other people cannot see inside.
Bumper ModificationsIf you want to give your car a more 'sporty' feel without spending a fortune, you could do worse than have a racing mesh fitted to the front bumper. As well as looking good, this can also improve the air flow around the engine compartment, which in turn improve your car's performance. There are many different types of racing mesh on the market, so you should be able to find one to suit your car.
'Eyebrow extensions' are a popular visual and lighting modification. These are usually plastic and are fitted to your car's head lamps. They come in a variety of colours, so it should be easy to find one to match your car. Although this can be done yourself (using polyurethane glue and plastic primer for the paint), it is advisable to get a professional (at a garage) to carry out this modification. They tend to be relatively inexpensive too.
Fuel Flap ModificationsIf you don't like your current fuel flap, you can have a different style fitted. These tend to be easy to fit, so it you don't have to go to a specialist to have your current fuel flap replaced. They are also fairly cheap.
Lighting ModificationsIt is possible to have neon lights fitted to the underside of your car, but in the eyes of the law, these are considered to be dangerous to other drivers, and are frowned upon.
Head LampsSome garages will fit different head lamps to your car. Xenon head lamps are an example of this.
It's a good idea to have visual and lighting modifications done professionally if you can afford it, so that you can be sure the modifications are of a high standard. You can do the modifications yourself, but it is obviously more risky to do so.
